Putz to coming to an eight inning near you?

The Mets are closing in on a three team deal that would bring JJ Putz, the Mariners closer to New York. The third team, Cleveland will be getting Joe Smith, while the Mets will be sending Aaron Heilman, Endy Chavez, and other prospects to the Mariners. The Mets will also be getting Sean Green a right handed relief pitcher.

Minaya is completely overhauling the Mets bullpen from last year, which was the primary cause of the late season collapse. Putz would likely take the setup role over from the parade of setup men used by the Mets last year. Sean Green will likely be the second right-hander out of the pen behind Duaner Snachez. From the left side the Mets will be using Pedro Feliciano and Scott Schoeneweiss. Rounding out the bullpen will be newly signed closer Francisco Rodriquez.

The setup closer tandem of K-Rod and Putz will be an incredible duo to take over from Johan Santana in the eight and ninth.
