Ibanez signs with Phills

The Mets will now be forced to look elsewhere for their leftfielder as Raul Ibanez has signed a 3 year $30 million contract with Philadelphia.

Left field is currently the Mets second priority behind finding a middle of the rotation starter to replace Oliver Perez if they decide not to resign him. Their choice for left field will be contingent on how much they spend on the pitching acquisition.

If the Wilpons decide to go big the Mets will likely target Bobby Abreu, Pat Burrell, and possibly but not likely to look at Adam Dunn. Cheaper options would be trading for Mark Tehan, and sources close to the General Managers office are saying that there has been some mention of bringing in Scott Podsednik to compete with Daniel Murphy. If that were to happen the Mets may revisit Orlando Hudson, and again try to unload Luis Castillo
