Ibanez has three primary suitors

Sources aware of Raul Ibanez put the Mets, Cubs, and D-backs as the front runners to land the outfielder. As it seems less and less likely that the Cubs will land Jake Peavy it looks like they will look to spend money improving their outfield.

If the Cubs were to land Ibanez it would force them to move Kosuke Fukudome to Center to make room for Ibanez.

The D-backs at this point are looking to add a veteran prescene in their clubhouse to help the progression of some of their young postion players such as Upton and Young.

The Mets have interest as Ibanez is the most dependable of the free agent outfield options having hit 20 or more home runs and knocked in 100 or more rbis in each of the last three years.
