Day one a quiet one

The first day of the winter meetings came to an end without any significant moves.

The Dodgers GM Ned Colletti has reportedly told ESPN reporters that CC Sabathia has expressed interest in being a Dodger. That being said, if the Yankees were unable to sign Sabathia, the ripple effects would be felt through the rest of the market. AJ Burnett who has been offered a multi year deal by the Braves would likely become the Yankees top priority along with a second top pitcher like Derek Lowe.

The run on starting pitching could cause other teams to reprioritize and focus on offense instead, driving up demand and thus the prices on position players. Economic conditions aside expect pitchers to command similar deals to the past few years as starting pitcher is always a rare and treasured commodity.
