Mets Start a Three Game Set Against the Marlins

The Mets begin a three game set with the Fish tonight at Citi Field. Coming off a 2-1 series victory against the sad Nationals, the team still continues to sputter.

The Marlins, who had been the best team in the majors just a short week ago have been swept in two consecutive series by the Bucs and Phils are looking to get back to their winning ways as they have come to depend on their young and talented rotation and lineup.

Tonight’s game features Anibal Sanchez (2-1, 2.50) vs. John Maine (0-2, 7.47). Sanchez who has looked good in all three of his starts so far this year will look to replicate his opening start against the Mets this year when he went 5 innings and didn’t give up a run.

Maine however has a lot to prove. Coming off there bad outings, which have each gotten progressively worse, he has had trouble locating the strike zone and still appears to be hampered by last year’s arm troubles.

The following two games pit Ricky Nolasco against Livan Hernandez and Josh Johnson against Johan Santana. The last, a business man’s special, should prove to be quite the pitchers matchup.

It is imperative that the Mets take advantage of Marlins recent troubles and take all three of these games. Coming into this home stand the Mets have needed to make a statement and prove they are not the same team that stumbled to begin last season, however without a sweep here the Mets will end the month of April as a losing team.
