After going 11-1 in their first dozen games the Marlins today lost to the lowly Pirates 7-4 completing the sweep. The Marlins, who through there first 12 won with a combination of both pitching and offense, couldn’t seem to figure out how to hit the Pirates pitching staff this week.
There’s no doubt that Florida has a fantastic core of young starters, coupled with some solid bats in their lineup, but the real question for the Fish is whether or no their defense will be able to keep them in close games.
Look for the Marlins to continue to come back down to earth this week, as they come to Citi for a 3 game set early next week.
