Pelfrey Sharp Against the 'Stros

Mike Pelfrey looked sharp today against the Astros. Pelfrey gave up 1 run on 3 hits while walking one and striking out 3 in 6 innings of work. Pelfrey who suffered a shin injury early in the spring made his second appearance since the injury which did not appear to bother him at all.

Pelfrey’s sound performance comes at a great time for the Mets, as it seems every member of the Mets’ rotation has had a few setbacks this spring. What was supposed to be the strength for the team has certainly come with its share of question marks.

After 5.5 innings the score was the Mets 8, Astros 1. Jose Reyes went 2 for 3, hitting 2 doubles and driving in 4, while Nick Evans hit a solo shot in the third inning, the third of the spring for him. Evans, who is certainly playing himself into a bench spot, continues to impress the Mets coaching staff.
