Smoltz to sign with the BoSox

A rash of reported signings this evening as the A’s have agreed to terms with Jason Giambi, the BoSox have signed Rocco Baldelli, the Reds bring back Jerry Hariston Jr, and most notably the newly broadcasting MLB Network is reporting that Boston is bringing in former Brave John Smoltz.

Smoltz who originally played for Detroit can barley be remembered playing in any uniform other than Atlanta’s, but he should slip in well in the Red Sox rotation. Smoltz if healthy rivals any other pitcher in the majors, and is a solid answer to the brash signings of Burnett and Sabathia earlier this winter by the Yankees.
