Garland and Heilman find new homes

A few moves of note today as ESPN reports that the D-Backs have come to terms on a year deal with Jon Garland, and the Cubs traded to get former Met Aaron Heilman from the Mariners.

Garland who has been mentioned in talks with the Mets now further limits the team’s starting pitching targets. Garland who was seen as a second tier option may start the trend of players signing one year contracts in hopes that next year’s offseason will be provided more options.
