Bye, Bye, Pat

ESPN has reported that the much hated Pat “the bat” Burrell has signed a two year deal with the Tampa Rays. The contract which is said to be worth $16 million should set the price for other corner outfielders still on the market, most notably another former Philly Bobby Abreu.

Burrell will fit nicely into the Rays’ order, giving them a solid 5 hitter with a lot of pop. He will likely be the DH, while mixing in sometime in leftfield. The Phillies pretty much cut ties with the outfielder when they signed former Mariner Raul Ibanez earlier this winter.
