Abreu back in NY?

Adam Rubin of the NY Daily News said in his blog that there is an outside chance the Mets would pursue Bobby Abreu if his price tag was below $4 million per season.

It’s hard to believe that even in this market a veteran player who went .296/20/100 last season while making $16 million could see his salary cut by 75% or more. Abreu is still asking for around $8 million on a one year deal, but if his asking price did drop to around $5-6 million expect teams like the Giants and Mariners to get involved, both of whom could use the veteran presence in their lineup, and would love to add someone that gets on base around 40% of the time.

As great as it would be to have a professional hitter like Abreu in left for the Mets, don’t expect to see him in orange and blue anytime soon.
